Recommended DockKit Gimbals for pMix Camera Control

pMix supports Apple DockKit gimbals for remote camera pan/tilt control from the iPad mixer. Some are properly useful. Some aren’t.

Full PTZ Control (Recommended)

Insta360 Flow 2 Pro
Still the best pick for pMix. Full manual pan/tilt from the on-screen joystick, automatic face/body tracking, system tracking across 200+ iOS apps, 3-axis stabilisation, 360° infinite pan, built-in tripod/selfie stick. Solid bit of kit.

Insta360 Flow Pro
Older model, same DockKit motor control support. Not quite as nice as the Flow 2 Pro, but still gives you proper joystick PTZ control from the mixer. Good cheaper option.

DJI Osmo Mobile 8
Now fully supported in pMix Studio. It is no longer stuck in the tracking-only bucket. If you want to use the Osmo Mobile 8 with pMix, you’re good.

Not Recommended

Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro
Desk stand, not a handheld gimbal, and Belkin recalled it over a battery fire risk. Leave it alone.

Non-DockKit Gimbals

Hohem, Zhiyun, and Feiyu gimbals do not support Apple DockKit, so pMix can’t control them.

Setup

All DockKit gimbals pair over NFC — tap your iPhone to the gimbal with pMix running in camera mode. It should show up automatically. If you’ve factory reset your iPhone, pair it again.

Quick update on the DJI Osmo Mobile 8:

It now has full support in pMix Studio.

So this is no longer a “tracking only” story. It works properly with pMix now, and you can treat it as a supported DockKit gimbal.

If you were waiting for DJI support to stop being half-baked, that’s sorted.

We’ve updated the main post above as well.

Short version: Osmo Mobile 8 is now properly supported in pMix.
